OUR STORY

Attending camp can be a highlight of any child’s summer. Kids from all over the southeastern U.S. have been attending Camp Suwannee since 1935. Camp Suwannee offers two fun filled weeks; this year Junior Camp is July 7-13, 2024 and Senior Camp is July 14-20, 2024. Registration begins at 2:00 on each respective Sunday and checkout is at 10:00 a.m. that Saturday.

Camp isn’t just about running around; each week is structured around a busy, age-appropriate schedule full of opportunities to learn together, to be self-reflective, to be crazy, to be messy, to work on a new skill, to exercise, to build relationships and to grow spiritually — all while having fun. You’ll want to make sure to pack some clothes to get messy in; you never know when you might spend a rainy day rolling around in puddles.

The thing campers mention most after attending Camp Suwannee is the spiritual atmosphere of each week, especially during services around the campfire at the Suwannee Bowl. In addition, each week includes Bible studies as speakers hold to the truth of the Bible. Worship services also feature contemporary Christian music led by worship bands.

Safety is of the utmost importance at Camp Suwannee. Many of the counselors and staff have worked many summers at Camp Suwannee; several grew up attending Camp Suwannee themselves. Because of this, administration knows these individuals personally. Still, all counselors and staff members go through background checks before they can work at Camp Suwannee.

The price to attend Camp Suwannee starts at $400 per person ($440 if registering after June 1st), but there are some discounts and financial assistance available.

We believe that the right summer camp experience can have a huge impact and influential impact in a  young life. Camp Suwannee is Christ centered, bible believing, faith seeking camp we are all about making memories, fostering lifelong friendships, and creating children that are comfortable in there own skin in a kind, nurturing, and loving community. Our goal is to create a partnership with your family to help you raise a God fearing, people loving, joyous, and Holy Spirit filled young person equipped with the skills needed to thrive in life.

Camp Philosophy

Our mission at Camp Suwannee is to introduce youth to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior in such a way that they will come to know Him as King of their own lives. This basically means we will tell campers about Jesus Christ through personal devotions, Bible studies, our own personal witness, games, and activities with the hope that they will pursue a personal relationship with Christ. From the way our program is designed, our staff, and activities, reflect that mission. We want our staff to role model the life and love of Christ to each camper.

As a camp, Camp Suwannee plans our schedule with the goal of providing campers an authentically fun and unforgettable week at camp . While having fun is not our primary goal, it is a helpful way through which campers can experience a gospel-centered community that has fun and genuinely cares about them.

Senior Camp

Senior Camp is a Christ centered, bible teaching camp, where youth have a fun adventure while learning about the things of God. Senior camp is a camp for youth ages 13-18 or if they graduate this year they can come as campers. Our schedule keeps the kids busy all day, we believe what Lindsey Rietzsch wrote "Boredom is the Devil's delight". We believe in not letting boredom sink in, and the schedule is carefully designed to have every minute of the day planned out.

From the moment our campers wake up, until their heads hit the pillow at night, our days are designed to be action-packed therefore it provides the campers with a positive environment where they can learn, laugh, play and enjoy camp.

We believe that combining structure and choice into our program allows our campers to experience all aspects of camp, build strong bonds with their friends and get the most out of camp.

Junior Camp

Junior camp at Camp Suwannee is our program for 7-12 year old campers. This week of camp isn’t afraid to get silly! Our Camp News Network broadcast, the cabin skit competition, and plenty of silly songs keep the fun rolling. Many of our traditions have been in place since our campers’ parents attended, but junior camp also strives to add fresh and new experiences while challenging campers to understand many facets of our faith. Missions class introduces the culture of far-off countries and helps grow an evangelistic mindset in campers. Morning Bible class and devotions as well as evening services reiterate each year’s theme and make sure campers are connecting with the most important part of the week- a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and how they can have a relationship with him. Junior camp has always both worked and played with one goal- to glorify Jesus and bring kids closer to His love!

Staff

Our counseling staff is the absolute best, they are there for the youth. They could spend a week on vacation or doing anything else but they chose to spend it counseling youth. They are more than just counselors, they are mentors, role models, and confidants to our campers. Our staff is involved in every aspect of camp, they play games with the youth, teach electives, and demonstrate what it means to be a man or woman of God. Many counselors return year after year, and all new staff have background checks. pastor recommendations and go through trainings and meetings. We prepare them all year for the one week of camp and the impact that they can have on these campers.

Camp Suwannee is in Dowling Park, FL; it's in The Village. The Suwannee river flows right behind the camp. It is such a beautiful place with plenty of nature surrounding us. It is not unusual to see a hawk, hear an owl, or even see a fox. This place is amazing, it not only serves the needs of Camp Suwannee summer camp but it can also be rented out for special occasions, retreats, or you can rent a room at the Village Lodge. It's a wonderful experience.

"Last year was my first year at Camp Suwannee. I went because so many of my friends went and told me how much fun they had. My favorite part of camp was the QR code, everyone would run around camp trying to accomplish the challenge, it was so much fun."
"The speakers they have at camp are amazing, they challenge you in your walk with Christ. One speaker in particular really challenged me, he talked about the dry bones coming to life. He talked about how so many Christians look like they are alive but they are missing God's breath of life in them. I realized he was talking to me."
"I've been coming to camp since I was a teenager. I am now a camp counselor, I always look forward to coming to camp. I love being with kids, I love going to White Sands, and Canoeing."
